I am a settler/colonizer living and working on Duwamish, Coast Salish, Suquamish, Stillaguamish land. As a white settler/colonizer I continue to benefit from white settler privilege and am part of the continued harm done to the indigenous people of this land. I am doing what I am able to give back to those who experience continued harm by colonialism. Part of that is by giving monthly to Real Rent Duwamish. If you are a settler or colonizer on this land, please consider donating and/or paying rent to the Duwamish tribe.

As a white settler/colonizer on this land, it is also important to me to recognize that the labor upon which this nation, state, and the institutions inside of both are built. This country was built on the labor of enslaved people from the African continent who were kidnapped, traumatized, and brought here even before the USA formally existed. I recognize the continued contributions of their survivors, and the systemic racism that has not ended. I also acknowledge all immigrant labor that has contributed to building this country, which includes voluntary, involuntary, forced, trafficked, and the undocumented peoples who contributed to the building of the USA and continue to be a part of the work force that is necessary for our survival in this country.
