Hi, I am Romina (Ro). I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor graduate student intern specializing in Drama Therapy. I am also an antiracist Latina immigrant, social justice advocate and an LGBTQIA+ ally. As a therapist, I use a transcultural feminist, liberation and anti-oppressive lens combined with my interest in Buddhism and my background in professional theater and film. I aim to guide clients to feel present in their bodies, arrive in the here and now, and take space to realize the power they have to make new meanings out of old narratives and past experiences. As a client you are in charge of your therapeutic process and I commit to be by your side all along!

approach:

My approach is trauma sensitive and client lead and my clients would describe my style as deeply listening while also kindly calling out confused patterns and narratives and providing gentle challenging feedback on what I believe will most benefit you. Most of my clients work with me for more than 10 weeks at a time although I also help other clients with more short-term solution oriented work. Sessions are available in both English and Spanish as I am fluent in both. I am excited to support anyone and everyone in their therapeutic journey and I may be a particularly good fit for immigrants, women of color, mothers and other people experiencing systemic barriers and isolation.

In the past I have been a theater director, performer, filmmaker, poet and writer. Creative works are still a vital and essential part of my life and being. I am a yoga instructor and a mom and this is an enormous part of my current life and identity which informs the way I see the world and the way I work with clients.

My masters program is Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Drama Therapy concentration at Antioch University in Seattle (link).

Specifically I offer support with:

-Overcoming Shame
-The Pain and Isolation of Being an Immigrant
-Emotional Regulation
- Processing Traumatic and Difficult Past Experiences
-Navigating Becoming a Mother (matrescence)
-Reconnecting with your Inalienable Innate Goodness.
