Our Approach
We work from a liberation framework, focused on antiracism, decolonization, and social justice. Liberation psychology is a direct response to the harms of traditional psychology, which has often been criticized for seeing individuals as the source of their own distress. This approach considers the context in which we exist—and how that affects our experiences and relationships—instead of being neutral or examining issues in a vacuum. The field of liberation psychology comes out of Latin America, and we specifically credit Ignacio Martín‑Baró for his pioneering of this framework.
In line with this orientation, we support reparations, the Land Back movement, anti-saneism & Mad Pride movements, and trans rights, and we are vehemently anti-genocide. All those who support liberation for all are welcome here.
